Ocean Acidification: Impact on New England Aquaculture

cancelled due to coronavirus shutdowns. To be rescheduled, new date will be posted in Sci-News Roundup and on this page

Jennie Rheuban, Research Associate III, Marine Chemistry & Geochemistry, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution

This presentation is by via skype (recording at 6:30 PM Belmont Media Center, 9 Lexington St, Belmont MA)

Climate change is causing increased acidification of the planet’s oceans This process is a hazard to ocean life, including shellfish. Dr. Rheuban explains how acidification develops and how it weakens the shells of mussels and other shellfish that are important to both New England’s economy and ocean ecology.
