Andrew Kolodny, M.D., Senior Scientist and Co-Director, Opioid Policy Research Collaborative; President, Heller School for Social Policy & Management, Brandeis Univ; President, Physicians for Responsible Opioid Prescribing.

The opioid crisis has caused hundreds of thousands of deaths. Much of the responsibility rests with the pharmaceutical industry’s promotion of aggressive opioid prescribing. Dr. Kolodny, a prominent expert on the issue, describes how Big Pharma was able to manipulate federal controls that would normally restrict prescriptions for addictive medications. He discusses how such corporate influence has developed and how it threatens public health.
