Patricia Glibert, PhD, Professor, University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science

Dr. Glibert appeared December 12, 2023 on Science for the Public's Contemporary Science Issues & Innovations program to discuss Troubled Waters: Red Tides and Other Algae Blooms She explained how Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) are now occurring in every coastal state in the U.S., and are a major concern around the world. HABs affect the health of marine organisms and also people. Dr. Glibert also discussed how ocean geoengineering can impact algae.

Patricia Glibert is distinguished for her research on nutrient use by phytoplankton and harmful algal blooms in waters around the world.She was named one of the top women professors in Maryland, and is a sustaining fellow of the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography. She is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
